Photography opportunities are amazing. I love to watch wildlife. Taking good pictures of wildlife can be challenging. It takes patience to get a shot without disturbing the wildlife.  It is best done in the morning. Afternoon lighting can be challenging. It can be harsh and full of shadows. This photograph is nice, but the background is washed out. I am exploring filters to buy for our digital camera for the summer. This link is about basic information on filters that I am finding useful  http://kenrockwell.com/tech/filters.htm .
I am starting this blog, because I feel positive changes in my life are starting to occur. I am exploring more creative opportunities. Spring is in the air here in Kalispell, Montana. It is always a nice time of the year. Today I woke to the wild turkeys outside of my bedroom window. Up close the colors are beautiful, reds and browns and purples.
This is a wonderful photo of a gold miner from the 1870s. This photography is from the Library of Congress collection.   Follow this link to other historical documents from the era at  http://journeytoaldergulch.com/documents.html. It is a great website to explore. Gold Mining in the 1870s

protecting historical artifacts

Protecting historical artifacts: It is distressing for me to hear that people have been vandalizing Native American sites in our area, but it seems that it is going on. We all need a reminder to look with out eyes and not remove artifacts. It can be tempting, but archaeology items are protect by law. This is to protect them for future generations. Let's leave things alone, so everyone can enjoy them for years to come.

State Flower

This is the Montana State Flower. It became the state flower in 1895. It's roots were used by the Native Americans for food. Here is a link with more information on the flower as the state symbol.  http://www.shgresources.com/mt/symbols/birdflower/ Photo Credit: Orkybash
